Srinagar : The Directorate of Physical Education & Sports (DPE&S), University of Kashmir (KU), convened a meeting at the Main Campus to review and take stock of the Annual Sports Calendar for the academic session 2026–27.

The meeting was chaired by Director, DPE&S KU, Prof. Raies Ahmad Qadri, and attended by College Directors of Physical Education & Sports from affiliated colleges, and Assistant Directors & Coaches of DPE&S KU.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Qadri reiterated the Directorate’s commitment to expanding sporting opportunities across the University and its affiliated colleges. He said, “all games recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) would be actively promoted and incorporated into the Annual Sports Calendar, with emphasis on wider student participation, systematic training and competitive exposure.”

The meeting featured detailed discussions on the proposed Sports Calendar, including the scheduling and conduct of tournaments and competitions throughout the academic session. It also discussed measures for better coordination, effective participation and smooth conduct of sporting activities. The College Directors shared suggestions for expanding sports activities and creating more structured opportunities for emerging sportspersons to compete at different levels.

The meeting highlighted the need for coordinated planning and broader student participation to further strengthen the sporting culture across the University and its affiliated colleges.
