During the meeting, the Committee held comprehensive discussions on  allocation of funds for the Roads Sector for the fiscal year 2026-27, while also reviewing the status of the Union Territory’s Capital Expenditure Budget, NABARD projects, and PMGSY initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir. Chairman Ali Mohammad Sagar underscored the importance of ensuring that development initiatives reach all areas of J&K impartially, directing departments to facilitate an equitable distribution of resources. Addressing the pressing issue of water logging in Srinagar, Sagar highlighted the significant challenges faced by residents during rainy seasons. He instructed the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUDD) to provide detailed Action Taken Reports (ATRs) and to develop a time-bound action plan aimed at resolving drainage problems before the next rainy season. Sagar acknowledged the valuable experience and institutional knowledge possessed by local engineers and administrators, emphasizing the need to leverage this expertise to enhance the quality, durability, and transparency of developmental projects. He reiterated the Committee’s commitment to ensuring that development reaches grassroots levels and that all projects are executed transparently and within set timelines, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of coordination between the Legislature and Executive as essential for effective governance and the timely delivery of public services.
