Srinagar : Minister for Education, Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare, SakeenaItoo, along with Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, Saturday  reviewed the progress on strengthening the academic profile and development activities of Kashmir University’s  campus at Wayan Kupwara

The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University, Prof. Nilofer Khan; Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Ram Niwas Sharma; Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant BalasahebSuse; Registrar Kashmir University, senior officers of education  departmentand other concerned officers of district administration Kupwara, either in person or through video conferencing.

During the meeting  the Minister and the Advisor reviewed the ongoing development works and academic infrastructure at the campus in Kupwara, aimed at enhancing its status as a leading center for higher education in north Kashmir. The discussions highlighted the importance of providing quality and accessible educational opportunities for students in Kupwara and surrounding areas. The Minister emphasized the urgency of expediting pending projects and fostering collaboration among relevant departments and university authorities to ensure timely completion of necessary infrastructure. Additionally, the Minister instructed stakeholders to eliminate any obstacles hindering the campus’s development and expansion. She also called for the Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University to conduct an on-site assessment of the ongoing works. The Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara was tasked with addressing land allotment issues in coordination with the District Forest Officer. Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani underscored the significance of the Kupwara campus in broadening access to higher education and urged for effective collaboration among all parties to resolve challenges impacting its growth. He also stressed the need to enhance the campus’s academic offerings by introducing relevant, employment-oriented courses that align with local needs and emerging opportunities. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nilofer Khan, provided a detailed presentation on the progress made in strengthening the campus’s academic activities.
