CS reviews action plan for ‘150 Years of VandeMataram’ celebrations

Srinagar :Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, Friday chaired a high-level meeting of all the concerned Administrative Secretaries; Divisional Commissioners, DCs and HoDs to review the preparations and departmental action plan for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga-2026’ campaign, being organised in conjunction with the third phase of the 150 Years of VandeMataram commemorative celebrations.
The meeting reviewed the responsibilities assigned to different departments and the logistical arrangements prepared by the Department of Culture, the nodal department, for smooth implementation of the campaign across all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir from August 9 to August 17, 2026.
Addressing the meeting Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of sustaining momentum in public participation across Jammu and Kashmir, urging Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to engage every panchayat, urban local body, and educational institution. This initiative aims to maintain the region’s premier status at the national level. The Chief Secretary mandated that all flags procured must adhere to the Flag Code of India, with procurement to be conducted through local Self Help Groups and the Department of Posts to ensure quality and timely delivery. Extensive publicity for the campaign was highlighted, with directives for the Department of Information and Public Relations and district administrations to conduct awareness drives on the respectful handling and custody of the National Flag post-Independence Day celebrations. The meeting revealed that Jammu and Kashmir has excelled in the nationwide patriotic campaign, achieving the top rank in the VandeMataram celebrations. A flagship event is scheduled for August 12 in Srinagar, featuring a Tiranga Bike Rally, a Tiranga Mela showcasing local crafts, and a patriotic concert with national and local artists. The nine-day program will include exhibitions on the National Flag’s history and the freedom movement at key public institutions, alongside Tiranga-themed activities in educational institutions. These activities will encompass board art, walkathons, letter-writing campaigns for armed forces personnel, and Rakhi-making workshops. Community singing of the National Song VandeMataram and the Tiranga Anthem will occur across various blocks and municipal areas, adhering to established protocols. A pre-event car and bike rally is also planned for August 11. Districts have requisitioned over 14 lakh National Flags to promote widespread participation, and citizens are encouraged to share their involvement on the official Har GharTiranga portal to foster public engagement and national unity.
