High-Speed Drama at Ramban Checkpoint Amid Warning Shots, Arrest

Srinagar :A man was arrested after attempting to break through a security checkpoint and run over police personnel with his Scorpio SUV in Ramban district early Friday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Arun Gupta, the vehicle (JK02AK-1743) approached the cut-off naka at Kunfer, Chanderkote, after entering from the JP Gate Link Road. When officers signaled the driver to stop for routine inspection, he accelerated toward duty officers, prompting an officer to fire three warning shots.
“The driver deliberately ignored the naka and attempted to run over the naka personnel. Sensing an imminent threat to the lives of the security personnel, the guard on duty fired three warning shots,” SSP Gupta confirmed during a press conference. An FIR was registered under Sections 109, 132, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Chanderkote Police Station. A joint operation by Police, SOG, CRPF, and the Army resulted in the arrest of the suspect, identified as Altaf Mohammad of Udhampur district, and the seizure of the vehicle for forensic analysis.
