Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday inaugurated the upgraded Residency Road–High Street corridor in Jammu, a ₹9.18-crore urban infrastructure project executed by Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) under the Smart City Mission to improve civic amenities, pedestrian infrastructure and traffic management.
The project has transformed nearly 1.2 kilometres of the city’s key commercial corridor, covering stretches from Raghunathji Mandir to the Chief Minister’s residence, Vivekanand Chowk to Raghunath Mandir Chowk and Vir Marg Chowk to Vivekanand Chowk. The upgraded corridor features underground communication ducts, relocated utility cables, new paver-block footpaths, RCC drains and a bituminous road surface, aimed at improving urban mobility, utility management and the overall aesthetic appeal of the area.
Several senior government officers, including MLA Jammu East Yudhvir Sethi, attended the inauguration.
