Accused convictd in 2020 Murder Case, Court Awards Life Imprisonment : Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has secured the conviction of one Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar in a 2020 murder case registered under FIR No. 03/2020 at Police Station Maisuma. The court sentenced the convict to Rigorous Imprisonment for Life along with a fine of ₹50,000 for the murder of Abdul Gani Dar inside a mosque.

In a statement issued here, Police said that the conviction highlights the unwavering commitment of the force towards ensuring justice through professional investigation and diligent prosecution.” Noting the gravity of the crime inside a place of worship, the court also awarded ₹7 lakh as Victim Compensation to the deceased’s family under the J&K Victim Compensation Scheme, 2019.
