Srinagar :  The Centre for Women’s Studies and Research (CWSR) at the University of Kashmir, in collaboration with the Department of Students’ Welfare, has launched a two-day national capacity-building programme titled “Young Leaders on the Move: Towards Viksit Bharat 2027 – Gender-Inclusive Transformative Leadership.”

The initiative aims to equip participants with a thorough understanding of gender-related policies and leadership frameworks at both national and international levels, while also promoting the significance of gender-inclusive leadership in fostering equitable social development. During the inaugural session, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized the necessity of empowering young individuals to engage meaningfully in decision-making processes across various sectors. She underscored that gender equality should be integral to leadership and development. Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada highlighted the importance of preparing students to confront emerging challenges with informed perspectives, while Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal noted that gender-inclusive strategies can enhance institutional responsiveness and participation in development. Keynote speaker Professor Emeritus Dr. Pam Rajput articulated that the vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 necessitates a commitment to gender equality and women’s involvement to achieve its developmental goals. She stressed the need to identify pathways for inclusive participation in this vision. The programme, coordinated by Dr. Roshan Ara, features expert lectures, thematic sessions, and interactive discussions aimed at engaging participants with critical issues surrounding gender policies and leadership practices. It has attracted a diverse group of students and scholars from various backgrounds, fostering a collaborative environment for learning and development.
