Srinagar, Aug 7: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally wet weather over the coming days, with the Meteorological Centre Srinagar forecasting spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers across many areas.
According to the MeT forecast, on August 7-8, one or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are expected at many places, with brief intense showers at a few locations.
From August 9-11, a few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely at most places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few districts of Jammu Division and brief intense heavy showers at a few districts of Kashmir Division.
The MeT has also warned that torrential rain or brief intense heavy showers may trigger flash floods and landslides at vulnerable places**, besides causing waterlogging in low-lying areas.
From August 12-17, light rain/thundershowers are likely at many places, with brief intense showers at a few locations.
The weather department has advised people to remain cautious, particularly in vulnerable areas, in view of the possibility of intense rainfall during August 9-11. On
