Total Pilgrims Visiting Holy Cave Shrine Since 2022 Surpasses 22-Lakh Mark
Srinagar: The annual Amarnath Yatra resumed operations on Thursday after a brief one-day suspension enforced as a precautionary security measure ahead of the August 5 anniversary.
Reports said that a fresh batch of 1,801 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for the Baltal route, while 659 devotees paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine during the day, taking this season’s total to 4,71,588. Officials reported that while the traditional Pahalgam route remains temporarily closed for maintenance, the overall turnout has pushed the cumulative number of pilgrims visiting the shrine since 2022 past 22 lakh, with yearly totals recording 3,65,721 in 2022, 4,45,338 in 2023, 5,12,150 in 2024, 4,14,311 in 2025, and 4,71,588 so far in 2026.
