Says “Assembly resolution on statehood stands, we will continue our constitutional struggle’
Poonch: :Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the promise of restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood remains unfulfilled seven years after the constitutional changes of August 5, 2019, asserting that his government would continue its constitutional and democratic efforts until the commitment is fulfilled.
Talking to reporters during his visit to flash flood-affected areas of Poonch, Omar said the people of Jammu and Kashmir were still awaiting the restoration of statehood, which he described as an unresolved commitment.
“Seven years have passed since August 5, 2019, but the promise of restoring statehood remains unfulfilled. As resolved by the Legislative Assembly, we remain committed to our stand and will continue our constitutional struggle for its restoration,” the Chief Minister said.
Responding to a question regarding the reported display of the national flag in an inverted position by a former Chief Minister, Omar termed it an inadvertent mistake rather than a deliberate act.
“I believe it was an unintentional error. I cannot accept that someone who has served as Chief Minister would deliberately display the national flag upside down. It was not intentional,” he said.
