MeT Warns of Flash Floods. Landslides Across Region
Srinagar: Heavy rainfall lashed parts of the Kashmir Valley alongside a reported cloudburst in the Nagam area of D K Marg in Kulgam district, driving up water levels in the Namlan Nallah, officials said while confirming no immediate loss of life or major damage. Over the past 24 hours, significant rainfall was logged across the Jammu division—Kathua (81 mm), Udhampur (66.6 mm), Katra (51 mm), and Samba (47 mm)—prompting authorities to issue advisories for low-lying areas. The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast persistent precipitation, brief intense spells, and heightened risks of flash floods or landslides through mid-August, urging public caution.
