Srinagar: The autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is likely to convene from September 21 following a cabinet recommendation chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, sources said.
Under sub-section (1) of section 18 of the J&K Reorganization Act, 2019, “The Lieutenant Governor shall, from time to time, summon the Legislative Assembly to meet at such time and place as he thinks fit, but six months shall not intervene between its last sitting in one session and the date appointed for its first sitting in the next session,” mandating a session prior to October 3, 2026, given the last adjournment sine die on April 4 after a 22-sitting budget session.
