Valley’s architects, engineers and planners unite for a safer, sustainable built future
Srinagar | Aug, 04: Khyber Cement on Tuesday hosted the inaugural Khyber Cement Architectural Conclave (KCAC) 2026 at Ramada Encore, Raj Bagh, uniting prominent architects, urban planners, conservationists, engineers, and former policymakers from Jammu and Kashmir.
The event served as a knowledge platform aimed at addressing the unique opportunities and challenges in the region’s construction landscape, focusing on critical questions regarding infrastructure safety, environmental responsibility, and the preservation of architectural identity amidst urban expansion. A key feature of the Conclave was a panel discussion on “Sustainability and Responsible Construction,” which included insights from experts such as architect Umar Farooq, architectural historian Dr. Sameer Hamdani, and heritage conservationist M. Saleem Beg. The discussion, moderated by journalist Masood Hussain, delved into essential topics like structural resilience, climate-responsive design, and the importance of maintaining Jammu and Kashmir’s architectural heritage in the face of rapid urbanization.
