Srinagar : Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, Tuesday chaired a review meeting at Civil Secretariat here to assess the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission and deliberate on key issues concerning implementation of water supply schemes across the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by Managing Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Director Finance JJM and others.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the critical need to eliminate procedural and administrative obstacles that impede the timely flow of funds, emphasizing that uninterrupted implementation of projects is essential. He instructed officials to prioritize the classification and release of funds to ensure that project execution remains on schedule, underscoring that timely access to financial resources is vital for achieving the Mission’s goals. The Minister also called for a thorough review of the operational checklists for all water supply schemes to guarantee their effective functionality and consistent service delivery. He stressed that completed schemes must operate reliably to provide uninterrupted access to potable drinking water for the community. Additionally, the meeting addressed the status of security deposits, with the Managing Director of JJM confirming that there are no pending cases related to their release, and all received cases are being processed efficiently according to established procedures. The Minister reviewed the progress of the Har Ghar Jal Certification initiative, urging for an expedited certification process through enhanced collaboration with district administrations, implementing agencies, and Gram Panchayats. He directed that all verification procedures be completed promptly to certify eligible villages without delay. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring universal access to safe drinking water, the Minister urged officials to closely monitor ongoing projects and foster effective coordination at all levels to ensure the timely completion and optimal operation of Jal Jeevan Mission schemes throughout the Union Territory.
