Srinagar : The Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) Club at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar recently conducted a hands-on workshop focused on the Frappe Framework and ERPNext, aimed at familiarizing students with open-source tools for enterprise application development.
The event was attended by faculty members, including the Dean of Students Welfare, Prof. Mohd Abid Bazaz, who encouraged student engagement with emerging technologies. Led by Akshit Bhardwaj, the workshop featured live coding demonstrations that covered the fundamentals of the Frappe Framework and ERPNext. Participants learned to develop business applications, write client-side scripts, and deploy basic software modules, with hands-on assistance from FOSS Club members throughout the session. Sponsored by Myasa NextGen Technology, the workshop attracted a significant number of students who brought their laptops to gain practical experience in application development using the Python-based framework. The primary objective of the workshop was to equip students with essential skills in open-source software development and to expose them to technologies prevalent in the enterprise application sector. Additionally, the event facilitated interactions between students and developers, allowing for clarification of technical concepts and insights into the significance of open-source platforms in the software industry. This initiative is part of the FOSS Club’s commitment to fostering collaborative learning and encouraging student contributions to open-source projects.
