Anantnag : A District-Level PanchSammelan was organized Monday at the Block Headquarters, Khoveripora, to sensitize elected representatives and functionaries of the three-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) on the provisions and implementation framework of the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-GRAM-G)

The Sammelan was chaired by the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Anantnag, Shafiq Ahmad Wani, who addressed former Panchs, Sarpanchs and other PRI functionaries. In his address, the ACD elaborated on the vision and objectives of the VB-GRAM-G Act, 2025, emphasizing the pivotal role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in its effective implementation.

He highlighted the statutory roles and responsibilities of PRIs under the Act, the preparation and approval of Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans (VGPPs), registration of eligible households and issuance of Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Cards (GRGCs), as well as the planning, execution, monitoring and long-term maintenance of community assets.

The ACD further underscored the significance of convergence with various rural development programmes to maximize developmental outcomes. Stressing the principles of good governance, he emphasized transparency, social accountability, effective grievance redressal, and robust social audit mechanisms as the cornerstones for successful implementation of the Act at the grassroots level.

The Sammelan witnessed enthusiastic participation from PRI representatives and functionaries, who actively engaged in the deliberations. They were encouraged to strengthen community participation, ensure effective implementation of the Act, and contribute towards realizing the vision of a Viksit Bharat through responsive, transparent and accountable grassroots governance.
