“Mistakes Happen in Youth”: PM Appeals for Empathy Over Legal Action

New Delhi: In a video message shared on his official Instagram handle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the controversy surrounding derogatory language used against him and his late mother during a recent protest at Jantar Mantar, appealing for forgiveness and empathy over punitive legal measures. Acknowledging the widespread public outrage sparked by the incident, PM Modi stressed that mistakes are a natural part of youth and argued that guiding young citizens onto the right path is far more effective than subjecting them to court proceedings or social harassment. He drew a vivid analogy to illustrate national unity, noting that when a tongue gets caught between teeth and bleeds, one does not break the teeth because both belong to the same body. Emphasizing that the nation’s youth belong to society as well, the Prime Minister extended an open call to the individuals involved, urging them to learn from their missteps, pursue their dreams, and actively contribute to India’s ongoing progress. The Prime Minister’s public appeal follows an FIR registered by the Noida Police regarding objectionable comments made during protests organized over the NEET paper leak
