Srinagar : Nearly a decade after losing her sight to pellet injuries during the 2016 Kashmir unrest, Insha Mushtaq has expressed relief after the J&K government approved ₹41.16 lakh to operationalize an LPG distributorship originally sanctioned to her in 2018.
Announcing the release, Minister Satish Sharma shared on X that while justice had been delayed, “The present government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has now approved the pending amount to bring the rehabilitation measure to its intended conclusion.” Insha, currently completing her final year of a Bachelor of Arts degree, expressed gratitude saying, “This decision has brought me immense relief after years of waiting. I sincerely thank everyone who supported me and never allowed my issue to be forgotten,” while renewing her emotional plea for a nationwide ban on pellet guns to protect others from similar lifelong trauma.
