Doda :The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Doda, in collaboration with the Piramal Foundation launched a three-day Orientation Workshop on Assessment Reforms and the implementation of the Holistic Progress Card (HPC).
Inaugurating the workshop, Principal DIET Doda Rajesh Kumar highlighted the importance of competency-based assessment as envisioned under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and said the Holistic Progress Card shifts the focus from rote-based evaluation to a comprehensive assessment of learners’ cognitive, social and emotional development. He said District Doda has been selected as the first pilot district in the Jammu Division for the initiative and expressed confidence that the model would be replicated in other districts in future.
The workshop aims to build the capacity of the 60 Zonal Resource Persons, who will act as master trainers and mentors for teachers and school heads in their respective zones. The sessions covered competency-based assessment, formative assessment, learning outcomes, assessment design, classroom observation, evidence collection, feedback mechanisms and effective implementation of the Holistic Progress Card.
The initiative also marks a step towards the establishment of the District Assessment Cell in Doda, which will mentor teachers and enable evidence-based decision-making across schools. The trained ZRPs will further cascade the training to teachers and school heads throughout the district.
Chief Education Officer Doda Bhushan Kumar Pathak attended the concluding session and stressed the need for effective implementation of assessment reforms at the grassroots level through trained resource persons across all ten educational zones of the district.
The programme was coordinated by Lecturer Zahid Ahmed, with overall coordination from the Piramal Foundation led by Program Leader for Doda and Kishtwar districts Irfan Ahmed. The technical sessions were facilitated by the Piramal Foundation Assessment Team, comprising Senior Program Director Vandana Sharma, Senior Program Manager Rashmi Singh, Senior Program Leader Aryamaan Banerjee and Program Leader Aishi Chowdhary.
