Srinagar, July 30: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and the illicit narcotics trade, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir has apprehended a Punjab-based drug peddler and recovered 100 grams of heroin from his possession at Lasjan, Nowgam, Srinagar.
A Police spokesperson said that Acting upon specific information regarding the movement of a drug peddler carrying narcotic contraband, a team of ANTF Kashmir launched a targeted operation at Lasjan, flyover adjacent to Peaks. During the operation, one individual identified as Love Preet Singh son of Balbir Singh resident of Sunder Nagar Mustafa Abad, Batala, Amritsar, Punjab, was apprehended. Heroin-like substance weighing 100 grams has been recovered from the possession of the apprehended individual. The recovered contraband has been tested on spot through Drug Detection Kit and the result arrived positive for Heroin.
In this connection, Case FIR No. 13 of 2026 under section 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station ANTF Kashmir, and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source of the contraband, its intended destination, and the wider network involved in its transportation and distribution.
The arrest and recovery mark another significant step by ANTF Kashmir towards disrupting interstate drug trafficking networks and preventing the flow of narcotic substances into the Valley.
ANTF Kashmir reiterated its commitment to continuing strict and sustained action against drug traffickers and their networks, with particular focus on identifying the source and forward linkages of narcotic consignments. Further investigation is in progress.
