Pulwama, July 29: Police in Pulwama have achieved major success in its sustained efforts against crime by swiftly solving an apple theft case, recovering the stolen produce and arresting the accused involved.

A Police spokesperson said, On 28/07/2026, Mohd Sakinder Bhat son of Gh Ahmad Bhat resident of Gulshanabad approached Police Station Rajpora with a written complaint stating that during the intervening night of 27/28.07.2026, unknown thief/thieves had trespassed into his apple orchard and stolen approximately 30 crates of Gala variety apples. Accordingly, FIR No. 104/2026 under Sections 331(4) and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Rajpora and investigation was promptly initiated.

Working on vital leads and sustained investigation, Police Station Rajpora successfully traced 24 crates of the stolen Gala apples to a grading line at Akhal. Upon verification, it was established that the consignment had been delivered there by Shahid Ahmad Butt son of Mushtaq Ahmad Butt resident of Gulshanabad. During questioning, the accused confessed to committing the theft from the complainant’s orchard.

The stolen apples have been recovered and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the involvement of other persons, and more arrests are likely.

The successful detection of the case within a short span of time once again demonstrates the professionalism, vigilance and unwavering commitment of J&K Police towards protecting the property of citizens and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice without delay.
