Srinagar : The Centre for Distance & Online Education (CDOE) at the University of Kashmir, in collaboration with the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) on Tuesday commenced a five-day workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of Urdu teachers in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The workshop is designed to improve pedagogical and professional competencies among school Urdu teachers, focusing on learner-centric teaching methods, innovative classroom practices, curriculum reforms, and the integration of digital tools in Urdu education. During the inaugural address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan underscored the critical role of continuous professional development for educators in adapting to the evolving educational landscape. She emphasized that the successful implementation of NEP 2020 relies heavily on well-trained teachers capable of fostering engaging learning environments. Dean of the School of Open Learning, Prof. Shahnaz, reiterated the significance of teacher training in enhancing educational quality, noting that workshops centered on subject-specific pedagogy can significantly improve classroom instruction. Dr. Shama Kausar Yazdani, Assistant Director of NCPUL, stressed the importance of equipping Urdu teachers with modern teaching techniques while maintaining the language’s rich literary heritage. The workshop, as outlined by Prof. Mohd Altaf Ahanger, Director of CDOE, includes expert-led sessions, practical training, and discussions on contemporary issues in language education, all aimed at refining the teaching skills of Urdu educators. The program features lectures, interactive discussions, and practical modules focused on innovative teaching methods and effective classroom practices.
