Srinagar | July, 27: The National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR) in Leh has launched a three-month Yoga Wellness Instructor Certificate Course, comprising 400 hours of training, in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) from New Delhi.
The course was inaugurated by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, a prominent figure in promoting yoga and meditation in Ladakh, with Dr. Tashi Thinlas, Director of the Department of Ayush, serving as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director of NISR, presided over the event and encouraged participants to engage fully in both theoretical and practical aspects of the course. Dr. Gurmet expressed gratitude to Ven. Sanghasena for his contributions to the promotion of yoga in the region and reaffirmed NISR’s commitment to traditional health systems. Dr. Thinlas acknowledged the importance of integrating modern and traditional medicine with yoga to enhance overall health and well-being, while also noting the potential for yoga therapists in Ladakh’s health sector. Ven. Sanghasena emphasized yoga as a holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual health, urging students to practice with dedication and to visit the Mahabodhi Meditation Centre for further enrichment. The inaugural session included a briefing by Course Coordinator Shri Gopal Sharma on the program’s schedule and guidelines, concluding with a vote of thanks by Ms. Dolma Tsering, marking the official start of the course for the participants.
