Sopora : Police on Monday said that during a rai at a public location near Government Middle School, Janwara four individuals involved in illegal gambling have been arrested.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Police said a team from Police Post Warpora promptly raided the spot and apprehended four accused identified as Ashiq Hussain Mir, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Bashir Ahmad Chopan, and Mohammad Altaf Mir, all residents of Janwara, Sopore.”
During the operation, officers recovered and seized stake money alongside playing cards from the site. Following the raid, FIR No. 183/2026 was registered at Police Station Sopore, and a further investigation has been initiated.
In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to maintain public order and take firm action against gambling and other anti-social activities.
