No fresh traffic from Qazigund, Udhampur; full restoration expected tomorrow, say officials
Jammu, Srinagar : Thousands of stranded vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway are being cleared on priority via a single carriageway after Monday’s landslides and shooting stones damaged stretches in Udhampur and Ramban. Passenger vehicles are prioritized while heavy machinery works to restore the road.
No fresh traffic is permitted from Udhampur towards Srinagar, Doda, Ramban, and Patnitop, or from Qazigund towards Jammu, until the route is declared safe. Full restoration is expected by Tuesday, weather permitting.
“The weather is currently cloudy in Udhampur. Restoration work is progressing, and stranded vehicles are being cleared on priority,” the official said, advising commuters to avoid traveling on the highway until further notice due to ongoing landslide risks.
