Srinagar : Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), through its Directorate of Extension in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ganderbal, on Friday organised a one-day capacity-building workshop on Kisan Sarathi 2.0 to enhance digital agricultural extension and strengthen technology-driven advisory services for farmers across Kashmir.
The workshop brought together approximately 60 extension professionals, including Programme Coordinators, Subject Matter Specialists, and representatives from all ten Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in Kashmir, focusing on the creation and dissemination of digital advisory content via the Kisan Sarathi 2.0 portal. This initiative aims to enhance the accessibility of scientific recommendations for farming communities. Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, Director Extension and Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture, emphasized the importance of adopting digital technologies and contributing high-quality technical content to the portal to ensure effective dissemination of research-based agricultural advisories. Dr. Parvender Sheron, Director of ICAR-ATARI, highlighted the potential of digital platforms like Kisan Sarathi 2.0 to improve the delivery of scientific information, offering authentic and location-specific advisories that bridge the gap between research institutions and farmers. The technical session led by Dr. Ashish Santosh Murai showcased the portal’s functionalities, including digital content creation, multimedia dissemination, and farmer query management. He encouraged participants to leverage the platform to enhance interactions between farmers and scientists, thereby expanding digital extension services in the region. The workshop concluded with discussions on digital communication strategies and the development of high-quality extension content, with participants expressing optimism that the training would significantly improve the delivery of timely and scientific farm advisories throughout Kashmir.
