Srinagar: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, Friday chaired a high-level meeting of senior officers of the Civil Administration and Police to review the preparations for the 80th Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, ADGPs, IGPs, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, Director Information, Directors of School Education (Jammu/Kashmir), Directors of Health Services (Jammu/Kashmir), senior officers of the Police and Civil Administration, besides representatives of various security agencies.
Chief Secretary thoroughly reviewed the preparations for Independence Day celebrations in Srinagar and Jammu, as well as at various local levels throughout the Union Territory. He emphasized the importance of meticulous planning and coordination among departments to ensure the successful execution of the events, urging that all arrangements be finalized well in advance to facilitate the participation of dignitaries, students, and the public. Dulloo highlighted the need to showcase the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir through high-quality performances, encouraging greater involvement from school students and youth to foster a sense of patriotism. He also mandated comprehensive security measures and effective traffic management to ensure the convenience of all attendees. In light of current weather conditions, he instructed relevant departments to provide adequate facilities, including drinking water, shaded seating, medical assistance, and emergency response services, particularly for school children. The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of maintaining high sanitation standards, ensuring uninterrupted power supply, and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of celebration venues. He directed the Information Department to ensure the Public Address System and other audio-visual equipment are installed and tested prior to the full-dress rehearsal, with backup systems in place for any unforeseen issues. Additionally, he called for the illumination of significant government buildings and infrastructure to mark the 80th Independence Day. The meeting also addressed logistical arrangements, including sanitation, healthcare, and transportation, with assurances from officers that all preparations would be completed on time and monitored regularly. Full-dress rehearsals are scheduled to take place before August 15 to ensure the smooth execution of the celebrations across the Union Territory.
