Srinagar : The Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW) at the University of Kashmir on Wednesday convened the First Meeting of the Kashmir University Students’ Council for the Academic Session 2026, attended by over 200 Class Representatives.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nilofer Khan, emphasized the importance of Class Representatives as partners in institutional growth and urged them to embody values such as integrity and accountability while advocating for their peers. During the interactive session, Class Representatives provided feedback on various issues, including academic facilities, infrastructure, and student support services. The university leadership expressed appreciation for the suggestions and committed to considering them seriously. Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. Seema Singh, reiterated the department’s dedication to enhancing student learning and leadership opportunities, while Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Pirzada Shariefuddin, highlighted the significance of co-curricular activities in achieving academic excellence. Registrar, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, underscored the necessity of effective communication and collaboration between students and administration, while Controller of Examinations, Prof. Majid Zaman Baba, called for Class Representatives to promote academic responsibility and ensure timely dissemination of important information. The meeting concluded with a documentary showcasing the DSW’s initiatives and achievements, reflecting the university’s commitment to student welfare and its successes in various national platforms.
