• Addresses national symposium on 51 Shakti Peethas
• Says respect for women must reflect true worship of Shakti
Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said Shakti is the “heartbeat and sustaining consciousness of the cosmos” and called for preserving India’s spiritual heritage while ensuring dignity, equality and opportunities for women.
Addressing the four-day “Shakti Mimamsa” national symposium, organised jointly by the Central Sanskrit University, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Sinha said the deliberations on the 51 Shakti Peethas would reconnect people with India’s ancient Sanatana traditions.
He said the Shakti Peethas represent India’s cultural and spiritual unity and stressed the need to document ancient manuscripts, inscriptions and heritage sites. Emphasising women’s empowerment, the Lieutenant Governor said worship of the Goddess becomes meaningful only when society ensures respect, safety and equal opportunities for every woman.
