Pulwama : Police on Monday said that it has seized a vehicle loaded with illegally extracted sand in district Pulwama.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Police said that during a checkpoint operation at Malwari, a team from Police Post Newa intercepted a tipper carrying illegally extracted sand. The driver, identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Lelhar, Kakapora, failed to produce any valid documents authorizing the transport of the mining material. Officers seized the vehicle along with the material on the spot. Police have registered FIR No. 135/2026 under relevant provisions of the law at Police Station Pulwama and launched an investigation. Reaffirming their commitment to protecting natural resources Police appealed people to report illegal mining activities to the nearest police establishment.
