Srinagar, July 18: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast a significant change in weather across Jammu and Kashmir, with widespread rainfall and thunderstorms expected from July 19 to 23, warning of heavy to very heavy rain in several districts and the possibility of flash floods, landslides and waterlogging.
According to the MeT Department, July 18 is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with brief spells of rain and intense thundershowers at scattered places during late afternoon and night hours.
From July 19 to 23, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy with intermittent spells of rain and thunderstorms across most places. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Jammu division, particularly Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Reasi and Udhampur, mainly during late afternoon, evening and night hours.
The MeT has warned of flash floods, landslides, mudslides, a significant rise in river and stream water levels, and waterlogging in low-lying areas during the period.
The advisory urges people to plan their activities accordingly, remain updated with weather forecasts, and advises farmers to suspend all farm operations during the expected spell of adverse weather.
The weather is expected to improve from July 24 to 27, with only brief spells of rain and thundershowers at a few places.
