Srinagar| July, 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has reconstituted its high-powered Fee Fixation Committee. Fulfilling a landmark mandate by the Supreme Court of India, this newly restructured panel takes immediate charge for a one-year tenure to strictly regulate and streamline fee structures across all professional colleges in the Union Territory.
According to an order issued from General Administration Department (GAD) the panel comprises of top legal minds, bureaucrats, and national regulators. The newly formed committee is now headed by Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir (Retd.) as Chairman. The other members of the committee include Administrative Secretary Health and Medical Education Department (for medical sciences), the Administrative Secretary Skill Development Department (for skill development), Administrative Secretary Higher Education Department (for higher education) , a Representative of the National Medical Commission (NMC), a Representative of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and a reputed Chartered Accountant to be nominated directly by the Chairman. Serviced directly by the Health and Medical Education Department, the committee holds a strict mandate under the J&K Private Schools Rules of 2022 to eliminate arbitrary price hikes and ensure total financial transparency.
