Pulwama : District Administration Pulwama Thursday concluded a two-day Sports Festival for Senior Citizens at C.B. Nath, Shadimarg, organised as part of the ongoing 100-day intensive campaign under the NashaMukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

The festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of senior citizens, poets and members of civil society from across the district.

Set amidst the picturesque surroundings and lush green forests of C.B. Nath, the event provided a refreshing environment for recreation, interaction and community engagement.

A series of recreational and sporting activities, including Tug of War, Musical Chairs and other fun-filled competitions, were organised during the festival to encourage active participation, promote physical fitness and strengthen social bonds among the senior citizens.

A special highlight of the festival was a Mushaira organised in the evening, in which renowned poets from Pulwama district presented their literary works, captivating the audience and adding a rich cultural dimension to the event.

Senior officers of the district administration and police were present on the occasion and interacted with the participants.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Planning Officer Pulwama, Aashiq Hussain Khanday, highlighted the importance of ensuring the active participation of senior citizens in social, cultural and recreational activities. He said such initiatives not only promote physical and mental well-being but also provide a platform for meaningful interaction, helping strengthen community bonds and fostering a healthy, drug-free society.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Pulwama, thanked all the participants, guests and supporting staff for their enthusiastic participation, discipline and cooperation, which contributed to the successful conduct of the two-day festival.

The participants appreciated the initiative and expressed their happiness over the unique programme. They urged the administration to organise such events to keep senior citizens socially engaged, physically active and connected with the community.
