Jammu, Jul 17 (UNI) A 30-yr-old man was killed and three personnel of Special Operations Group (SOG) suffered injuries in an incident of firing after he allegedly tried to snatch a service rifle from a cop in Bhaderwah area of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources here on Friday said that acting on specific inputs related to the suspicious movement, a team of SOG personnel late last night laid a special nakka along the Jaie-Gandoh road.
The SOG team around midnight intercepted a group who allegedly attacked them while a man attempted to snatch a service rifle, they said, adding, “a SOG jawan during the scuffle, accidentally opened a fire in which the youth allegedly sustained bullet injuries, while three cops were injured.”
All of them were rushed to the Sub-District Hospital, Bhaderwah, from where they were referred to the Government Medical College, Doda but the youth identified as Aarif Hussain of village Cheeka, succumbed to his injuries, they added.
Police sources however, said that there is no terror angle into the incident.
Officials also said that a religious preacher has also been detained in this connection.
“Additional troops of para-military forces are deployed in the town while mobile internet service has also been snapped as precautionary measures,” they added.
They said that the Army has also launched a massive search operation in the Jaie area of Bhaderwah.
