Vehicles, Machineries Seized In Pulwama, Baramulla For Illegal Mining: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has launched coordinated enforcement drives alongside the Geology & Mining and Flood Control departments and seized machinery, vehicles, and boats used in illegal sand and soil extraction.

In Pulwama, joint teams intercepted a tipper at Wanpora and a dumper at Yader, Litter, both carrying illegally extracted materials. Additionally, at Lelhar, Kakapora, authorities demolished unauthorized access ramps along the River Jhelum that were built to facilitate illegal mineral transport, while booking two tractor drivers under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Meanwhile, in Baramulla, police seized 10 boats, 4 water pumps, 2 dredgers, and a boat pusher from the Jetty–Jhuhama–Chakloo belt.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, police said they have reiterated their unwavering commitment to protecting the environment, preserving natural resources, and ensuring strict enforcement of mining laws, Warning therein that strict legal action will continue across the districts against anyone exploiting natural resources.
