Dy CM, Ministers, Political Leaders Mourn Dr. Mustafa Kamal’s Demise

Srinagar: A wave of condolences poured in from Jammu and Kashmir’s political leadership on Tuesday following the demise of veteran political leader and former Cabinet Minister Dr. Mustafa Kamal, while Education Minister SakeenaItoo separately expressed grief over the death of two School Education Department lecturers who lost their lives in a road accident at Magam.

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary described Dr. Kamal as a seasoned political leader, compassionate public figure and committed social worker whose invaluable contribution to public welfare and the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir would be remembered with deep respect.
He conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the bereaved family, praying for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the irreparable loss.

Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather termed Dr. Kamal a towering political figure, distinguished parliamentarian, accomplished administrator and compassionate leader who devoted his entire public life to serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Recalling his long association with the late leader, Rather said Dr. Kamal rendered exemplary services while heading several key departments in the erstwhile state and earned widespread respect for his integrity, humility and visionary leadership.
He said Jammu and Kashmir had lost one of its most experienced and farsighted leaders whose contribution to governance, development and public service would be remembered for generations. The Speaker also extended condolences to Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the bereaved family, praying for the departed soul’s highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, also expressed deep sorrow over Dr. Kamal’s demise, describing him as a distinguished public figure who dedicated decades of his life to public service and democratic values. He said the veteran leader earned respect across political and social spheres for his steadfast commitment to public welfare and efforts towards strengthening democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma said Dr. Kamal’s legacy of public service and dedication would continue to inspire future generations and conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, relatives, friends and admirers.
Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo, expressed profound grief over the death of Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Lecturer in Physics, and Shabir Ahmad Dar, Lecturer in Chemistry, who were killed in a road accident at Magam. Both lecturers hailed from the Gulmarg area of Baramulla district.
Describing the untimely demise of the two educators as an irreparable loss to the School Education Department and the teaching fraternity, Itoo extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
She prayed that Almighty Allah grant the departed souls the highest place in Jannat and bestow strength and patience upon their loved ones to endure the tragic loss. The minister also conveyed her sympathies to their colleagues and all those affected by the unfortunate incident.
