Srinagar, Jul 13: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Monday forecast generally hot and humid weather across Jammu and Kashmir till July 17, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers expected at scattered places.
According to the forecast, brief intense showers may occur at isolated places in the Jammu division during the period.
The MeT department said weather conditions are likely to change from July 18, with partly to generally cloudy skies and light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places across the Union Territory. Brief intense heavy showers are also expected at isolated locations in the Jammu division on July 18-19.
For July 20-22, the department has predicted generally cloudy weather with one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places, while heavy rain or brief intense showers are likely at isolated places in both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
Meanwhile, the MeT has issued an advisory warning of heavy rainfall and brief intense showers during the late night of July 18, the morning of July 19, and again between July 20 and 22, particularly during late afternoon and early morning hours.
It also warned of the possibility of flash floods, landslides and mudslides at vulnerable locations in the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range during the forecast period.
The department has advised people to stay away from nallas, streams and landslide-prone areas and urged the public to remain vigilant and follow weather advisories.
