Two-week NCM-funded Mathematics School Concludes at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar : The two-week Instructional School for Teachers (IST) on “Theoretical and Numerical Aspects of Partial Differential Equations: Applications to Flow Dynamics” concluded successfully at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

Organized by the Department of Mathematics from June 29 to July 11, 2026, and supported financially by the National Centre for Mathematics (NCM), the program attracted 42 faculty members, researchers, and educators from various higher educational institutions across India. During the valedictory ceremony, participants received certificates acknowledging their successful completion of the program. The event was facilitated by several faculty members from the Department of Mathematics, including Dr. Mehraj Ahmad Lone and Dr. Rameez Raja, among others. Dr. Atendra Kumar, the program’s convener, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes and emphasized the potential benefits of the knowledge gained for the attendees’ future research in applied mathematics. He also acknowledged the support from NCM and the contributions of distinguished resource persons who delivered lectures throughout the program. Dr. Zamrooda Jabeen, Head of the Department of Mathematics, commended the participants for their engagement and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in strengthening theoretical foundations and fostering collaboration. Feedback from participants, including Dr. Mohd Shuaib Akhtar and Dr. Shyaman V. P., indicated that the program was academically enriching and beneficial for their teaching and research endeavors. The Director of NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, congratulated the department for organizing the national-level program, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to enhancing research culture and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Registrar, Prof. Atikur Rahman, also praised the organizing committee’s efforts, noting that such instructional schools significantly contribute to academic excellence and capacity building among educators and researchers.
