Srinagar, July 10 : The Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Friday announced a detailed traffic management plan, including diversions and movement restrictions on the Srinagar–Baramulla National Highway, to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the 25th Muharram procession at Mirgund in Pattan on July 11.

As per the advisory, traffic movement along the Srinagar–Baramulla stretch will remain affected from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Authorities have urged commuters to avoid non-essential travel on the highway during the notified period and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed on the ground.

Under the revised traffic arrangements, Srinagar-bound vehicles arriving from Baramulla and Kupwara will be diverted via Hamray–Pattan–Hanjiveera–KP Payeen–Jheel Bridge–Gund Khawaja Qasim–Mazhama–Narbal before proceeding towards the city.

Likewise, vehicles heading towards Baramulla, Sopore and Kupwara from Srinagar will be routed through Narbal–Magam–Kongamdara–Hanjiveera–Pattan–Hamray, allowing authorities to regulate traffic while facilitating the religious procession.

The Traffic Police said the temporary diversions are aimed at ensuring public safety, maintaining orderly movement of devotees, and minimizing disruption to commuters. Motorists have been advised to plan their travel in advance, strictly follow the designated diversion routes, and comply with directions issued by traffic officials.

The advisory has been issued in the public interest to facilitate the observance of Muharram while ensuring efficient traffic management across one of Kashmir’s busiest highway corridors.
