Says rising pilgrim numbers are boosting tourism and the local economy
Appreciates coordinated efforts of admin, Shrine Board, security agencies
Srinagar : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday visited the Yatra Transit Camp and Yatri Niwas at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar to review arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra-2026, directing officials to ensure round-the-clock care and a hassle-free pilgrimage for devotees.
During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor interacted with pilgrims and officials and assessed facilities including registration, accommodation, sanitation, security, healthcare, drinking water, power supply, firefighting measures and other essential services.
“From registration to accommodation and food, no pilgrim should face any inconvenience. It is our collective responsibility to make their stay in Jammu and Kashmir divine and comfortable,” Sinha told officials.
Highlighting the growing response to the annual pilgrimage, the Lieutenant Governor said the Yatra has witnessed a higher turnout of devotees compared to the corresponding period last year.
“The increased footfall is not only a reflection of the Yatra’s spiritual significance but also a positive sign for tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, providing fresh momentum to the local economy,” he said.

“I want the rich handicrafts and handloom products of Jammu and Kashmir to reach homes across the country through the devotees. This will honour our artisans and strengthen the One District One Product campaign by linking faith, culture and prosperity,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the coordinated efforts of the district administration, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, police, security forces and other departments in ensuring smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. He stressed the need for continued coordination, effective crowd management, timely dissemination of information and a seamless registration process.
He also directed officials to take strict legal action against those involved in fraudulent registration practices.

Sundeep Chakravarthy, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar AkshayLabroo, Municipal Commissioner Srinagar FazLul Haseeb and other senior officials.
