Qazigund, July 10 (KNO): A girl died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Vessu near KP Colony in the Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, officials said.

 

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the girl was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the highway at Vessu near KP Colony, Qazigund.

 

He said the driver fled the spot after the accident, while the girl was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for treatment and later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced care.

 

However, doctors at SKIMS Soura declared her dead, the official said.

 

The deceased was identified as Khushboo Jan, daughter of Bilal Ahmad Wagay and a resident of Behibagh Yaripora in Kulgam district.

 

Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched an investigation to identify the vehicle and trace the absconding driver.—(KNO)
