Srinagar: A day after reviewing the security situation in Kashmir, Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth on Thursday visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in the PirPanjal region to assess operational preparedness, the counter-insurgency grid and border security.
An Army spokesperson said General Seth visited the headquarters of the White Knight Corps and its forward formations in Poonch, Rajouri and Sunderbani, where he was briefed on the prevailing security situation, operational deployments and combat readiness along the LoC.
Senior commanders apprised the Army Chief of the surveillance architecture, field-level innovations, integrated operational preparedness and infrastructure development in forward areas. He also reviewed initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and facilities in border villages, besides assessing ongoing people-centric programmes.
The visit came a day after the Army Chief reviewed the security situation at the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps headquarters, where he was briefed on operational deployments, counter-terrorism operations, inter-agency coordination, evolving security dynamics and arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
According to the Army spokesperson, General Seth also reviewed initiatives related to technology induction, capability enhancement and integrated combat readiness across the full spectrum of operations.
The Army Chief commended all ranks for their professionalism, dedication and steadfast commitment under challenging conditions and appreciated their continued efforts in maintaining peace and stability. He urged troops to remain mission-focused, operationally agile and uphold the highest standards of operational excellence.
During his visit to Srinagar, General Seth also called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
