Srinagar: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh has concluded a six-day visit to forward areas in the strategically significant Ladakh sector, where he reviewed the operational preparedness of Indian Air Force units and interacted with personnel deployed in high-altitude locations.
The Air Chief, accompanied by Air Force Families Welfare Association (AFFWA) President Sarita Singh, visited Ladakh from July 3 to July 8. He was received at Air Force Station Leh by Air Vice Marshal Anand Sondhi and other senior officers.
During the visit, Air Chief Marshal Singh assessed the operational readiness of units deployed in the region and reviewed the coordination and joint operational synergy between the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army.
He also inspected the newly developed Nyoma Airfield, where he reviewed the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening India’s air capabilities in eastern Ladakh.
Paying tribute to the nation’s fallen soldiers, the Air Chief laid wreaths at the Kargil War Memorial and the Rezang La War Memorial, honouring the personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the defence of the country.
At forward locations, he interacted with air warriors, distributed sweets among troops and commended them for maintaining a high level of professionalism, operational readiness and resilience while serving in the harsh high-altitude terrain.
The visit underscored the IAF’s commitment to maintaining a high state of operational readiness while ensuring the welfare and morale of personnel deployed in the Ladakh sector, the PRO said.
