Srinagar: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth, on Wednesday reviewed the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness and combat readiness in Kashmir during a visit to the headquarters of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps (15 Corps).
During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed by senior commanders on operational deployments along the Line of Control (LoC), the counter-terrorism grid in the hinterland, inter-agency coordination and the evolving security scenario in the Valley. He also reviewed the security arrangements put in place for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
General Seth assessed the Army’s efforts towards technology absorption, capability enhancement and integrated combat readiness to effectively address emerging security challenges across the region.
Commending the officers and troops for their professionalism and dedication, the Army Chief lauded their steadfast commitment to safeguarding national security under challenging conditions. He also appreciated their sustained efforts in maintaining peace, stability and a robust security environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
The visit comes amid heightened security measures across the Valley to ensure a peaceful and incident-free annual Amarnath pilgrimage.
