Article 370 abrogation brought ‘real freedom’ to J&K: Nitin Nabin

Says“Hope BJP forms govt in J&K, Tricolour now flies high across J&K, including Srinagar’s Lal Chowk”
“J&K youth are now known as Ranji Trophy champions, not stone pelters”

Jammu: BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Monday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir attained their “real freedom” following the 2019 abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35-A, expressing confidence that the party would eventually form the government in the Union Territory.
Addressing a ‘Karyakarta Sammelan’ near Jammu on the final day of celebrations marking the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Nabin—marking his first visit to J&K since taking charge in January—said, “The constitutional changes carried out by the Narendra Modi-led government fulfilled the vision of the BJP ideologue for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.”
Nabin highlighted a transformed political and security environment since 2014, pointing out that the national flag now flies across the region, including Srinagar’s Lal Chowk. Contrasting this with his experience during the 2011 Rashtriya Ekta Yatra when he was denied permission to hoist the tricolour due to curfew and alleged law-and-order pretexts, he stated:
“Only the persons with blinkered vision are unable to see what has changed in J&K. Tricolour proudly flying high at Lal Chowk and everywhere else in J&K after Narendra Modi took over the reins of the country as the Prime Minister delineates the change in J&K. Prior to 2014, when Congress was at the helm of affairs at the Centre and was in coalition in J&K government, hoisting tricolour was not allowed on the pretext that it would disturb peace in Kashmir and would create law and order problem,”
Emphasizing a shift toward development and peace, Nabin added: “Many people ask “what changed” and I tell them that a lot has changed in Jammu and Kashmir” adding, “Today, the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are known as Ranji Trophy champions and not stone pelters,”
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for realizing this vision and urged party workers to expand their grassroots outreach, asserting “the day is not far when Jammu and Kashmir will also have a BJP government,”
Earlier, Nabin was received at the Jammu airport by senior leaders, including J&K BJP president Sat Sharma and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. During the remainder of his two-day visit, he is scheduled to hold meetings with party legislators, visit the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, and participate in a “Yuva Samvad” program with young party workers.
