Srinagar, July 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has expanded the scope of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to provide financial assistance to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and other eligible economically weaker sections suffering from life-threatening diseases.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that MLAs can now recommend financial assistance of up to ₹20 lakh annually from their CDF for the treatment of patients suffering from cancer, organ failure requiring transplants, chronic kidney disease requiring dialysis and other notified life-threatening illnesses.
He said the initiative is aimed at ensuring timely, life-saving medical support reaches economically weaker patients who are unable to bear the high cost of treatment.
The move is expected to provide much-needed relief to financially distressed families requiring specialised medical care, the Chief Minister added.
