DGP Coordinates with Shrine Board to Crack Down on Unregistered Yatris
Srinagar : Director General Police Nalin Prabhat on Saturday held a comprehensive security review meeting at the Police Control Room in Kashmir to assess the arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. The meeting was attend by top functionaries of J&K Police, Army, and multiple intelligence and law enforcement units. Officers presented detailed evaluations of security measures, traffic management, and the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the Yatra’s safe and smooth execution.
Addressing the meeting DGP Prabhat emphasized the necessity for heightened operational readiness and effective inter-agency coordination, particularly focusing on intensified surveillance along critical routes and the National Highway. He instructed field formations to monitor potential threats closely and ensure strict verification of identity credentials for pilgrims, utilizing an RFID-based tracking system for real-time monitoring. The DGP also highlighted the importance of addressing issues related to unregistered yatris in collaboration with the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, ensuring that only registered pilgrims participate in the Yatra. In terms of disaster preparedness, the DGP called for contingency plans and resources to be in place to manage any weather-related challenges, ensuring timely evacuation and support for both tourists and pilgrims. He underscored the need for professionalism and public service, urging officers to be accessible and responsive to the needs of pilgrims. Prabhat expressed confidence that through coordinated efforts and vigilance Amarnath Yatra-2026 would be conducted safely and successfully.
