Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has intensified its operations against illegal mining and seized seven vehicles for being involved in the unlawful extraction and transportation of mining minerals in Pulwama and Shopian districts.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that in Pulwama, three tractors loaded with illegally extracted materials were intercepted three suspectes from Wahibugh were identified. The vehicles and the mining materials were confiscated, and an FIR was registered at the Pulwama Police Station, prompting further investigation. In Shopian, a police patrol intercepted three dumpers and one JCB that were also engaged in illegal mining activities without the necessary permissions. An FIR was filed at the Keller Police Station, and an investigation is underway. In its statement Police reiterated that the crackdown on illegal mining will persist to safeguard public resources and prevent the unlawful exploitation of natural assets, appealing people therein to share with inputs about any illegal mining activities they observe.
