Ganderbal : The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) on Wednesday launched a 10-day national workshop focused on “Next-Generation Biomaterial Scaffolds for Stem Cell Therapeutics in Regenerative Medicine,” sponsored by DHR-ICMR. This initiative aims to enhance capacity building in regenerative medicine by merging fundamental science with translational research, biomaterial technologies, and clinical applications.

The workshop’s inaugural session was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, alongside notable guests including Prof. Abid Hamid and Dr. Naveed Nazir Shah, who emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the need for skilled human resources in this emerging field. Prof. Riaz Ahmad Shah, Dean of FVSc&AH, highlighted the transformative potential of regenerative medicine in healthcare, while Prof. Ganai underscored the significance of institutional collaboration and innovation-driven research. The workshop also featured the release of a documentary showcasing SKUAST-K’s achievements and a book on evidence-based research in stem cell therapeutics. With a high demand for participation, the workshop received 120 applications for just 20 available spots, including an international candidate from Grenada. Over the course of the workshop, participants will engage in expert lectures and hands-on training covering various aspects of stem cell research and biomaterial fabrication. A key component will be an industry-academia-policy dialogue addressing the regulatory landscape for veterinary stem cell therapeutics in India. The event boasts contributions from international experts from prestigious institutions, reinforcing SKUAST-K’s commitment to advancing regenerative medicine through research excellence and strategic partnerships.
